Summer's Over

Summer is officially over in our has begun.

It has been an amazing yet challenging Summer.
A hard working farmer is the only one who receives a harvest, right?

I really do try when it comes to having a garden, but my garden gives the evidence that I am NOT a gardener  only a "wanna-be".  Hmmmm... kinda sounds spiritual.  We need to ask ourselves, "Am I a Christ follower or a wanna be?"
I'm a "Wanna-Be Gardner"

Between being gone a lot of the Summer, and keeping busy with other things, my garden is getting quite over run with weeds.  Every Summer I tell myself, "next year will be better".

It's no fun to pull weeds, prune back plants, find bugs eating and killing your produce and sweating in the sun only for a few veges.

But isn't that how it is in our Spiritual life?  It's hard work!  Yes, Jesus' load is light.  He gave us His FREE GIFT of salvation!

"Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life." Romans 5:18

Can't get any lighter and easier than FREE!

But if we don't keep on top of our relationship with Christ through daily spiritual discipline, we end up being run over by our old-self and full of the world's "junk".  WEEDS!

"He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful." Matthew 13:22

God wants to produce a fruitful harvest in our life:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."  Galatians 5:22-23
We must tend to our spiritual garden daily.
Check out the sweet love song the Lord gave me for my "End of Summer 2013" gift, written and sung by JJ Heller.

Funny's called Boat Song.

Guess where our family spent most of our Summer...

...on a boat.

Praising God for a blessed Summer!
Closer to seeing our Savior face to face!  :)

Marriage Trials

My heart is so heavy right now for struggling marriages...

Josh and I on our wedding day 16 years ago
God gave me a huge burden for troubled marriages when He, in His Sovereignty, allowed my own to be destroyed 12+years ago through His fiery furnace.

FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS: there are darts from satan being fired at marriages all around me during this season of my life.

How do we fight against and shield ourselves from the arrows satan launches at our marriage, and at our relationships?

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12

Please remember this: Your loved one is NOT your enemy.

Satan HATES marriage.  It is a picture of Christ and His love and commitment for His bride (the church).

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" Ephesians 5:25

It is so much easier to let satan's arrows land where they may, crawl under the table, and hide to let satan have the victory.  It's SO HARD and hurts SO BAD to fight for our marriage.

How you ask???

Have you cried out to God?  Have you put down your screen to dig into His Word?  Have you talked to Him about it instead of your girlfriends?  Have you written in your prayer journal instead of on your Facebook wall?  Have you sought the Godly counsel of an older God-fearing woman?  Have you memorized His Promises instead of your favorite song?  Have you begged God for His wisdom and love toward your spouse instead of complaining about them?

These my friends are our weapons of warfare...not degrading our spouse to the closest ear, doing that will get you on "Big D (divorce) Road".

You CAN do this!  You promised God and your spouse on your wedding day, remember?  You promised in sickness and in health...this my friend, is "in sickness".  Your marriage is sick right now and it needs to be brought to the Great Physician.

"When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mark 2:17

He loves you and your spouse so much!  He desires to pour out His grace and mercy upon you and your family when you follow Him.

"And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth..."  Exodus 34:6

If God is SO longsuffering/patient, and loving toward us, than we too can be filled by Him, and pour out His mercy (not getting what we deserve) upon our spouse.

God is worth living for in EVERY area of our life....
even our marriage.

~ God has graciously given Josh and I 16 years of marriage, and Lord willing, more to come~

If we can do it through Christ, so can you!
