Did you read the title of today's blog?
What in the world!? You ask?
Yep, this is what God has been teaching me lately.
Years ago the Lord tried teaching me this and I didn't listen very well.
He obviously wants to get my attention on the subject again since I didn't get it the first time. :)
"Speak Lord your servant is listening." 1 Samuel 3:10
LOVE EXPECTING NOTHING IN RETURN?!
This is the model of love Christ showed us over and over in His word.
"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 New King James
God's Word does not say, "endure all things if the other person gives love back", "love only if the other person loves you", "rejoice if everything in your life is hunky-dorey", "bear all things if everyone is kind to you"....
God's Word DOES say, "In the world ye shall have tribulation..." This verse follows up with..."but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
The second part of this verse is where God pours strength, courage and love into me to keep going, to keep giving, and to keep loving... by remembering to keep my eyes on Him, The One who has been down this road I am walking on. He knows what it feels like to love and get nothing in return. He has already won the victory! He poured out His love for me when I was His enemy!
"But God commendeth (introduced) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." Romans 5:8 & 9.
False prophets today like to say,
"If you give love, it will be given back to you..." Hmmmmmmm..... I don't think that's what happen to my Jesus after He poured out His love for the world. He ended up beaten, bruised, torn up (unrecognizable), hanging on a cross and gasping for His next breath!
I don't call that being "given back" love.
If God has called you to love someone who doesn't reciprocate love, God will be faithful to His promises in His Word.
Call you His Daughter
Call you His Beloved
He will call you a Child of the Living God
Romans 9:25-26 "And he saith also in Osee I will call them my people, which were not my people, and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the Living God."
When you choose to surrender to Him, He will:
Redeem you and
(So thankful God taught me this through a Beth Moore study) :)
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;...Ephesians 1:3-7
Keep loving my friend. You can't do it through your own strength. Let God pour Himself into your life and Himself manifest through you...
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
