Snow Days!

I have to share a litle of what's been going on in our home...lots and lots of snow!

Lots of snow, means 5 snow days home from school (+ the weekend), which means I have been praying more than ever for wisdom and peace in how to be a Godly Mommy! :)

Its so nice God has allowed us to have family and friends that lives close by. We had our cousins over a couple of times.

Daddy and Uncle took the kids sledding on the 4 wheeler,

and we have a GREAT sledding hill.

The boys made a blanket fort in the living room to sleep in....several nights in a row,

and my Ellie has been baking up a storm!

Our sweet friend and neighbor even had us all over for her homeade pizza, snow ice cream and a card game called Hand and Foot

Through all this "snow caios" I continue to cry out to God for wisdom. As many of you know, it's not easy being a referee in your home. God has answered my prayers many times this past week. He allowed the electricity, water and heat to stay on, PRAISE GOD! He kept everyone safe... a little scary with 10 kids in and out of the house at different times doing dangerous things. :) The kids were entertained the majority of the time, and many memories were made.

One of the prayer requests I continualy ask God for is wisdom in disciplining. (I very much support spanking...)

"He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly." Proverbs 13:24

...but sometimes I just need another option.

The Lord gave me a wonderful idea through my neighbor and friend! She suggested, while at the dinner table, to encourage manners, have a plastic toy pig on the table.

Guess what is joining us for dinner these days....

OH MY! Her idea is wonderful and it works wonders! It has been so fun and sweet to sit at our table! So if any of you need encouragement for geting your kids to have manners at the table, this is what she suggests...

The pig sits on the table. Explain the pig and table manners to your kids (ours are: no burping, no inturrpting while someone is talking, no elbows on the table while eating, no talking with food in your mouth, do not take too big of bites, do not lick up remaining food, and sit on your bottom, etc). This may sound strict, but I am raising 2 future businessmen and a sweet, hospitable wife and mommy, Lord willing! You never know when they might be invited to sit and dine with the President!

So onto the pig: When someone does not use their manners, the pig sits in front of them. It goes back and forth to each child who does not use their manners. The last person the pig is placed in front of, when the dinner is done,  has to clean up! Believe me, no one wants to clean up around here! :) OH MY, I am so thankful for the wisdom God gave me through my friend!

Our sweet dining time has allowed us to listen to the audio of Little Women while we eat, so fun!

Happy Snow Days!

Loosing a Friend

Words do not describe the loss I feel today.

I have never experienced the pain of loosing someone so close.

Today the Lord brought to life the book I have been reading the past 4 weeks, Pilgrim's Progress

He always does that...prepares me for an event before it even happens.  God is a Gentleman like that.  That's why I love Him.

God called His faithful servant, Randy Storms, (my counselor who pulled me through the Swamp of Despondance) Home to be with Him last night.

Randy was my "Faithful".  (In Pilgrim's Progress, Faithful is Christian's [the main character's] best friend who helps him through the straight and narrow path.  1/2 way through the book, Faithful is burned at the stake because of His love for Christ.)

Over the past 11 years God keeps asking me,

"TONYA, DO YOU TRUST ME?"

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him."  2 Samuel 22:31

I say, "Yes, Lord!"  but then He tries my heart again...
"Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart." Psalm 26:2

God allows another trial into my life to rid me of my sin and make me more like Him.

"Because it is written, BE YE HOLY; FOR I AM HOLY."  1 Peter 1:16

And He whispers..."Tonya, lovest thou me more than these?"
"For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Yes Lord; you know that I love you.

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."  Psalm 32:8

Thank you Father for using Randy Storms to guide me through Your path.  What a blessing you gave me.  I love You and trust You more.
