Have you ever made a covenant with God?

What is a covenant?

Covenant= in the sense of cutting; a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh)

Remember how in the Old Testament in the Bible they had to sacrifice sheep, etc to make covenants/ compacts?

Marriage is a example of a covenant.  The sexual act between a man and woman is the physical symbol of "passing between pieces of flesh".

The Bible is full of the word covenant.  Look it up and do a word study on it.  Covenants are VERY IMPORTANT to God!

Have you kept your covenants that you've made to God?  I broke my covenant I made with God when I divorced Josh.  I know that's hard for many to hear, but it's the truth.

In Jeremiah 34:18-20 God voices His anger when His people transgressed (= transition; to cover; do away; provoke to anger) their covenant.

"And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof, ...I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth."

Jeremiah 35:12-14 tells how the people listened and obeyed their fathers instructions, but not God's.  How many times do we obey the "laws of the land", but think nothing when we disobey God's Word?  "Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of the father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not harkened unto me: Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered."

Because I broke my covenant that I made with God when I divorced Josh, I am even more thankful our God is a God of second chances.  That He made the ultimate covenant with us when He sacrificed His son on the cross.

"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in onece into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." Hebrews 9:12

"...Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling..." Hebrews 12:24a

"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jeus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."  Hebrews 13:20-21

Please don't take your covenants lightly.  God paid the ULTIMATE price for you...He died for you.  The least we can do is live for Him.

"And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me." Jeremiah 33:8

Summertime is off to a GREAT start!
Notice his sand "muscles"  :)

We so excited to be able to share this Summer with V and love making many "first" memories with him.

He seems to be having a wonderful time with not an ounce of homesickness.  This is his home now.  He informed me he would like to be the President someday... had to tell him the bad news.  :)

Anything he sets his mind to he conquors.  He is quite the warrior.  I pray God will use him for His kingdom with the gift of fearlessness He has given him.  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...." Matthew 28:19a&b.

V has so far: endured his first peeling sunburn, (and now he lets me put sunscreen on), enjoyed the lake by kneeboarding,

fishing, skipping rocks, enjoying the boat

setting up a tent

picked cherries & made a cobbler

V and Ian eating the cherry cobbler V made.  SILLY BROTHERS!

God recently introduced us to a young man in his early 20's in our church who LOVES the Lord!  He has taken V under his wing as he has been down a similar path as V and can relate, and guess what?!  He is also from Russia!!!  Who would have planned that one???  Only our Saviour who is into details!
S and V are buds!

We have had so much fun this Summer, and it's only begun!

As I look at each member of my family, I am amazed God has chosen me to be Josh's wife and the children's mommy...
Look what the LORD has done!
"And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of the children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.  Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.  For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them."  Jeremiah 32:39-4

Do you want to know the "will of God" for your life? Have you spent time in His Word getting to know Him? Have you read His Love Letter to you? Do you still walk around as if God doesn't care about "little ole' you"? Do you think that God doesn't "talk to you the way He talks to others"? Dig into the Bible, His Word is ALIVE, He still talks to us today in 2012 in His Word and it's PACKED FULL of GOOD STUFF!!! (John 6:51)

"Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence..."? Jeremiah 5:22

Do you tremble at God's presence?

- to twist or whirl (in a circular or spiral manner), i.e. to dance to writhe in pain or fear; dance, drive away, fall grievously (with pain); fear; form; great; grieve (be) grievous; hope; look; make; be in pain; be much (sore) pained; rest; shake; shapen; (be) sorrow (-ful); stay; tarry; travail (with pain); tremble; trust; wait carefully (patiently); be wounded

"The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble..." Psalm 99:1

"Tremble" in this verse has a different meaning... to quiver (with any violent emotion; espec. anger or fear):- be afraid, stand in awe; disquiet; fall out; fret; move; provoke; quake; rage; shake; tremble; trouble; be wroth

"TREMBLE YE WOMEN THAT ARE AT EASE; be toubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins." Isaiah 32:11

Too many churches today are preaching what we "want to hear" to make us feel good about ourselves and not enough are telling us to be "poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." Isaiah 66:2

"There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy..." James 4:12

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

What do you think God's will is for each of our lives?.... To fear Him!!!!!!

If you fear God, He will fill you with His wisdom to live the rest of your life in His will, but first you must fear Him.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" Psalm 111:10

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" Proverbs 9:10

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge" Proverbs 1:7

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." James 1:5&6

You see, fear of God, must first be in place in your life, for Him to give you His wisdom concerning His will for you.

I know you don't want to hear this...again, but if you are a married woman, the number 1 thing on the list of God's will for your life (under loving God) is being your husband's help meet. (1 Corinthians 11:8-9; Genesis 2:18) Ask your husband what this looks like for him. It may look completly different for both of you, but you can't help meet your sweetie's needs if you don't ask him what they are. When he does finally trust you enough to tell you, please don't jump in defense with your words or actions. Take some time to think about what he said and ask God to help you meet your husband's needs. Before you talk to your hubby about it, ask God to soften your heart to hear your husband out and help you carry out the task before you. Your husband may have a huge burden he's been carrying around for awhile and now that you've asked, he may share. It may seem too big for you to carry out on your own, but don't worry, with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) If you fear God, He will fill you with His wisdom when you ask Him, (James 1:5&6) to help you, help your husband.

Once you have these few things in your life:

1. Fear God (includes repenting of your sins! Mark 1:15; Luke 12:5)

2. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Matthew 22:37-38)

3. Love your neighbor AS YOURSELF (This includes your husband, children, fatherless, widow, poor, needy and those who have wronged you -Matthew 22:39; James 1:27; Luke 6:35)

you will feel SO FREE!!!! You will feel as if a huge burden has been lifted off your shoulders when you trust and obey God. Then you will be "in His will" and enjoy His blessings. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

I double dog dare you...
