V Update

Another little update about our V

He enjoyed his first Valentine's Day! I asked him to say, "Happy Valentine's Day" in Ukrainian. He said there is no "happy" in Ukraine. Makes me so sad. But he had so much fun on his American Valentine's Day!

Sleepy V on Valentine's Day morning (sorry, couldn't get the pic to turn :)

Of course he loved the school Valentine's Day party! Lots of candy, pop and presents! He enjoyed buying his secret Valentine a gift and receiving one in return. It was so funny, we purchased a basketball for his "Valentine" and he received the SAME basketball from his Valentine! Gave everyone a good laugh! It was so hard to keep things a secret for sure!

<><><><>
Just opened his Vday gift from his friend and realized its the same one we got his Valentine!  :)
V had a BLAST skating at the school's skating party. The party was a reward for reading so many books. Yep, V got to go because he has read several English books!!! Can you believe it? I cannot even fathom being in his place. There would be no way I would be reading a Ukrainian book! He even ventured out to do the speed skate! He is a courageous little guy!

And he really liked the snack machine. :)

Notice the closed eyes smiles?!  :)

Speaking of being full of courage....V went to a singing competition with our school! He barely knows English, but went anyway! He just mouthed the words the best he could...AMAZING! I think he really enjoyed himself too! I know they had a lot of "concerts" at his Ukrainian school.

I am SO blessed to be part of family that lives close to eachother! I LOVE that my children get to grow up close to their cousins, and that most of the cousins are close in age. We have lots of cousin activities. The most recent was several cousins came over for a game of airsoft war! V sure did enjoy that!!! He is now, as I speak, outside building "shields" or things to hide behind for the next war. :)

Gettin Ready for the big WAR

Watch out!

The very first day of Spring break the boys spent some of their money buying airsoft supplies, silly boys!

These boys LOVE to play basketball together, even if they do argue the whole time about the plays. :)

A friendly Game of Knock-Out

I found I have TWO competative, head strong boys! We knew V had a competative streak when we hosted him, but boy is it coming out strong these days! :) My Ian too... I knew he was competative, but now that he has a competative brother... watch out!!! The boys have had many "servant" talks, learning to turn the other cheek, and doing unto others as they would have done unto them.

Look what I found after coming in from outside... MELT MY HEART!
Sweet Servanthood-removing a splinter

Earlier this year we also got to take a little family trip. Our first time in a hotel room as a family of 5! Thank you Jesus! :)

The boys in their hotel bed

I think V's favorite part about the trip was seeing this guy hold a rattle snake.

V is definatly a courageous one. Ellie calls on him anytime she sees a spider. V to the rescue with his shoe and kills it for her.

Winterjam concert was a favorite. He takes after his dad and loves loud music! :)
He also experienced his first tornado warning. Welcome to Kansas! :) Off we went to our brother's house to hide in their shelter! He didn't even flinch, but enjoyed the time with his cousins. :) He said there are no tornados in Ukraine.
Oh, and soccer practice starts Thursday!!!!! Here comes a Ukrainian soccer player... watch out America!!
Thank you to everyone who has made our family of 4, a family of 5!! We love our V!!!
Thank You Lord for restoring what the locust have eaten!
"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you." Joel 2:25

What does a mighty woman of God look like?

(Do you have a Strong's Bible Concordance? If not, like I suggested before, make it the first Bible study tool you put on your list! Ask for it as a birthday/ mothers day/ Christmas gift. My parents bought mine for a birthday present. I don't know what I'd do without mine. It brings God's Word to life like never before! )

As I went through my Strong's I underlined all the words that described "woman" in the Bible, I came across the words, "tender and delicate". I thought, "oh that sounds sweet, I want to be tender and deliacate!" So I went to the passage that the words were in.

Deuteronomy 28:56-58 "The TENDER and DELICATE woman among you, which would not adventure to set the SOLE of her foot upon the ground for her DELICATENESS and TENDERNESS, her eye shall be EVIL toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall EAT them for want of all things secretly in the SIEGE and STRAITNESS wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates. If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD..."

NEVERMIND Lord... I don't want to be tender and delicate! This used to be me!!!! Have you ever read Deuteronomy 28? It is one of the most intresting passages!!! It lists some of God's blessings for obedience and some of His curses for disobedience! Of course this passage is a curse for disobedience.

Tender-weak, fainthearted, soft
I used to get upset and frustrated at the smallest things!

Delicate
- luxurious, delight self, sport self
I desired to have the latest of everything for my luxury. (still working on this one)

Sole
- the hollow hand or palm; fig. power:- branch, + foot, hand; from defination 3721- to curve: -bow down self
This one struck me hard! The word sole in this verse has to do with the woman being servant, getting her feet dirty. She must give and deny herself!

Evil
- to spoil by breaking to pieces; to be or make good for nothing; afflict; break down in pieces; do harm; hurt self
This woman's EYE was evil toward her husband!! YEP that was me!! Giving her husband dirty looks. I broke my husband down in pieces not only with my words but also with my eyes. Made him feel like he was good for nothing!

Eat
- to eat; burn up; consume; devour
This is where it gets strange. Isaiah 28: 21b says, "that He may do His work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act." Deuteronomy 28:56-58 sounds strange for sure, but His Word is true! There are many ways we can "eat" our children. This defination says burn up; devour. I used to devour our children with my anger, raising my voice and getting ticked off at the slightest thing. (still working on this one as well) I wonder if we have also devoured the children God longed to give us with abortion, birth control, and surgerys to stop them?  The woman described in Deut 28: 56-58 ate her children because she was in "want of all things secretly...". We just watched the movie October Baby. The woman in the movie had an abortion because she wanted to further her career and a baby would have been in the way of "her plans".

Siege
- a mound; distress; a fatness
This defination is kinda confusing for me. But from what I understand, when we are in "want of all things", we will do whatever it takes to achieve it! Making a mound of our wants, and making ourselves full of the world.

Straitness
- a narrow place; confinement
When the woman in this verse starts to fee the pull from the world wanting all things, she feels confined.  She desires to get out in the world and make a name for herself.  But what does God say will happen to this woman?

Deuteronomy 28:59 Then the Lord will mak ethy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. More over he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and thy shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed..."

....read Deuteronomy 28, there is more!

WHY DOES GOD DO THIS?!

Deuteronomy 28:45-47 "Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; BECAUSE THOU HEARKENEDST NOT UNTO THE VOICE OF THE LORD THY GOD TO KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS AND HIS STATUES WHICH HE COMMANDED THEE: and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever. BECAUSE THOU SERVEDST NOT THE LORD THY GOD WITH JOYFULNESS, AND WITH GLADNESS OF HEART, FOR THE ABUNDANCE OF ALL THINGS..."

There it is again... God has already given us "the abundance of all things" and we are still not satisfied! We are not joyful and content with gladness of heart! May we not be tender and delicate women, but be thankful warriors in His army!!!

"Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Joel 3:9

I cannot do this on my own. On my own I am tender, delicate, and sinful woman, filthy.

"They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Psalm 14:3

Thank You Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins. "Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." Romans 5:9

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong..." Joel 3:10

So let's be thankful, serve the Lord with joyfulness and roll up our sleeves to fight for our families by getting our feet dirty!!!

Trust in the Lord

TRUST... a HARD thing to do. Especially when you've been hurt one too many times. You may find yourself asking, "How do I ever trust again?"

God's word mentions the word trust 134 times in the KJV. Only ONE time does it talk of trusting another human being in a positive light.

"The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil (booty, prey-to practice plunder or robbery)." Proverbs 31:11

The only human that the Bible talks of trusting is a wife for her husband!!! What a HUGE responsibility we have as wives!! May my husband always trust me!

When trusting another human is mentioned, it is in a negative light. "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help." Psalm 146:3 "Take ye heed (to hedge about, guard) every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, (a heel as protuberant-swelling) and every neighbour will walk with slanders (talebearers)." Jeremiah 9:4

And I definately CANNOT trust myself, my emotions or feelings! "But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves..."

"SO WHO CAN I TRUST?!"

... but in God which raiseth the dead:" 2 Corinthians 1:9

"Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us." Psalm 62:8 "As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler (shield) to all those that trust in Him." Psalm18:30

Put your trust in The One who made man not in man!!!

Many times I have to tell to myself to CHOOSE to trust Him even if I don't FEEL like it. "What time I am afraid, I WILL TRUST in thee." Psalm 56:3 "I will say of the Lord, He IS my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him WILL I TRUST." Psalm 91:2

Even when life stinks I will choose to trust Him, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain mine own ways before Him." Job 13:15

When life stinks will you trust God? You may find that sometimes, God has to distrupt your little world to get your attention, He did me. "And the Lord shall smite (to push, gore, defeat, stub the toe, inflict a disease:- beat, dash, hurt, plague, slay, strike, stumble) Egypt: he shall smite and heal (to mend by stitching, to cure, physician, repair, x thouroughly, make whole) it: and they shall return even to the Lord, and he shall be intreated (intercede, listen to prayer) of them, and shall heal them." Isaiah 19:22

I think the infliction is worth the healing. When a child gets a splinter, do you think it's best to leave it there? NO! You get a needle and dig it out, even if the child cries, "IT HURTS!" Won't you let God use His word to cleanse you?

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

The healing is coming if you choose today to trust Him... with BLESSINGS!"Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wroght (envelope; a wrapper) for them that TRUST IN THEE before the sons of men!

"Kiss (fastening up; as a mode of attachment) the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. BLESSED ARE ALL THEY THAT PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM." Psalm 2:12

Will you choose to trust The Potter or the clay?  When you put your 100% trust in HIM, He will fill you up overflowing that you can't help but let the trust spill out onto others. But He wants your first priority, your all.  He is a Jealous God.

"Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God..." Exodus 20:5a

Will you TRUST HIM even when life is not all roses?

"As for God, His way is perfect..." Psalm 18:30a
